Yet another magical evening of good taste and elegance at Gastronomie magazine’s most recent launch
On September 12, 2007, Gastronomie magazine launched its most recent edition with an exceptional launch party where the arts of cooking, mingling and good taste left all guests impressed and totally thrilled.
30 of the Quebec’s finest dining establishments were challenged to create the ultimate hors d’oeuvre to impress more than 1500 guests and 5 culinary critics, Francoise Kayler, ex-critic of La Presse, Robert Beauchemin, of La Presse, Mathilde Singer of Voir, Gregoire Viau of Relais Gourmand and Jean-François Plante of Tout simpement Clodine, all of whom made up the jury.
Guests of Gastronomie and it’s major sponsor in the event, Lexus, enjoyed the most delectable offerings from the restaurants present. They also had to choose their favorite appetizer!
To further stir the pot, a duel took place between two of the top chefs in Canada, David Lee of Splendido (Toronto), one of the city’s best restaurants, against Laurent Godbout, chef of Chez L’Epicier, Version Laurent Godbout and soon... DUEL. Working with rabbit under 4 different themes, the two chefs presented astonishing creations to the jury and later to the public.
And the winner of the duel is... DAVID LEE of Splendido beating out Laurent Godbout in Presentation (32.5/40 to 31.5) Taste (32.25 against 30) and Originality (32.5 against 31.75). Don’t worry Montrealers, we will get our revenge next year!
